Match report Barwell 2nd XI travelled away to Long Whatton 2nd XI hoping to get their season back on track after a couple of difficult games against those at the top of the table.

Whatton won the toss and asked Barwell to bat first and had early success as they had James Dillon caught in the second over.

Sam Taylor then joined Jon Morley and the pair put on 43 for the second wicket before Morley was bowled for 35.

Taylor went on to score 29 before being caught and Liam Tillin batted well for his 21.

At 108 for 7 in the 31st over Barwell looked in danger of being bowled out cheaply. It was then that Srini Parthasarthi joined Chris Moore at the wicket. Together they put on 54 for the 8th wicket and took the score to 162 before Srini was bowled for 21.

Chris Moore, with the help of George Rowley and Lewis Roach, went on to score 43 not out and take the Barwell total to 185 for 9 off their 45 overs.

The Long Whatton openers started well and had taken their score to 96 before skipper James Dillon brought Srini on to bowl and he was soon in the wickets. In his 12 overs he claimed an excellent 8 for 46, with all of his wickets being bowled.

With the support of Liam Tillin, who bowled well for his 2 for 37 off 11 overs, the pair bowled Long Whatton out for 150 in 34 overs.

This was a good win for Barwell and was celebrated well into the night.
