Match report Barwell Cricket Club first XI were at home against Melton Mowbray first XI in a important top of the table clash.

Barwell lost the toss & we're asked to bowl first. Barwell pace man Liam O'Rourke got the home side off to the dream start taking two wickets in an excellent opening spell. Nick Hines also bowled superbly with the new ball but had to wait until his 6th over for his first wicket, leaving Melton 55-3 off 12 overs.

All the Barwell bowlers caused problems for the travelling side & wickets fell at regular intervals, eventually bowling Melton out for 148.

All of Barwell's bowlers took 2 wickets each. Liam O'Rourke 2-32, Nick Hines 2-38, Kyle Newall 2-32, Lee Skene 2-28 and Ady Baker 2-19.

Ady Baker & Guy Norris again got Barwell off to the perfect start, putting on 70 for the first wicket before Baker was out for 28. Clint Baker them came to the crease & survived a close lbw appeal first ball.

Shortly after, Norris was caught on the boundary for an excellent 43. Jack Smith was then brilliantly caught for 5, bringing Tommy Wright to bat & the score 90-3. Clint Baker and Wright put on an excellent match winning partnership. Clint Baker finished 49 not out & Tommy Wright 20 not out.

Captain Clint Baker commented "It was an excellent all-round performance today with bat, ball and in the field. The lads are all in their stride now and there's a real good feeling in and around at the club.”
