Match report Barwell's top of the table clash with Countesthorpe produced an intriguing game which swung first one way and then another and which, in the end, left Barwell hanging on for the draw.

Countesthorpe batted first and Barwell held the initial upper hand as Countesthorpe were reduced to 92 for 4. This was largely due to spells from Ady Baker (2 for 41) and Lee Skene (3 for 44).

Some big hitting at the end took Countesthorpe to 224 for 7 off their 45 overs. Barwell's other wicket takers were Neil Cowdrey 1 for 10 and Liam O'Rourke 1 for 55 with Kyle Newall unlucky not to take a wicket despite bowling well.

Barwell's reply, whilst steady, never really kept up with the required run rate. Barwell lost O'Rourke early on and when Dec Allen was bowled for 15 they were 47 for 2 off 14 overs.

Ady Baker was then caught for 26 with the score on 76. Jack Smith then joined skipper Clint Baker and the pair, with a flurry of boundaries, took the score to 129 in the 35th over.

When Baker was caught for 39 a mini collapse followed, including Smith who was well caught for 24, as they lost 6 wickets for 12 runs.

It was left to Neil Cowdrey and Lee Skene to bat out the final over as they hung on with the score at 141 for 9.
