Match report With promotion still firmly in their control Barwell first XI played host to bottom of the table Mountsorrel Castle first XI.

Barwell batted first and Guy Norris and Ady Baker put on their usual good start. Norris was the more aggressive of the pair and had made 32, with seven 4s, before he was bowled for 32 with the score on 45.

Ady Baker was then joined by Clint Baker. On a slow wicket scoring proved difficult and the score had reached 100 in the 29th over when Ady Baker was caught for 39.

Jack Smith then joined his skipper at the wicket and was going well when a mix up led to him being run out for 16. Clint Baker then fell shortly after as he was run out for 29.

Barwell's innings closed well as Liam O'Rourke scored an impressive 36 not out and Tommy Wright, whose brief innings included the shot of the match with a six on to the pavilion roof, scored 11 not out and take the innings total to 184 for 6 off 44 overs.

Mountsorrel's innings got off to a disastrous start as Liam O'Rourke and Nick Hines soon had then 14 for 4 off the first 6 overs.

O'Rourke went on to bowl an excellent spell and was unlucky not to claim more than his 3 for 16 off his 8 overs. This was partly due to Nick Hines, who used all his years of experience and finished with 4 for 29 off his 10 overs.

With rain threatening to deprive Barwell of a well earned victory, Clint Baker then turned to Lee Skene (2 for 3) and Ady Baker (1 for 4) and the pair claimed the final three wickets and bowl Mountsorrel out for 57 in the 22nd over.

The win sees Barwell in third place with four games left to play and everything to play for.
