Barwell Cricket Club 2nd XI v Long Whatton 2 on Sat 17 Jun 2017 at 1pm
Barwell Cricket Club Won by 8 Wickets (25 pts)

Match report Barwell 2nd XI secured their fourth win of the season at home to Long Whatton 2nd XI.

On winning the toss Barwell elected to bowl first and were rewarded for this decision as opening bowlers Sam Taylor (2 for 20) and George Rowley (2 for 42) reduced Whatton to 64 for 4 after 16 overs.

Elliot Moule was then brought into the attack and bowled with great control to claim 3 for 20 off his 11 overs. He was well supported by Liam Tillin (1 for 27) and debutant Declan Higgins (2 for 14) as Whatton were eventually all out for 132 in the 40th over.

Barwell's run chase got off to a flying start as Josh Moore hit a typically fluent 25 before being bowled by Thompson.

Moore's departure brought Jon Morley to the wicket and he rolled back the years as he scored a classy 47 before being well caught in the deep.

Sam Taylor then came in and bludgeoned a quick 19 not out. However, it was left to skipper and opener James Dillon to score the winning runs after a gritty innings of 24 not out.

This was an excellent team performance and sees Barwell safely in mid-table after the first nine games of the season.
