Match report Barwell second’s late push for promotion continues to build momentum with their fifth win in a row after victory against Ashby Hastings 2nds.

Batting first, Barwell initially faced some tight bowling from Ashby Hastings. However, George Baker’s patient 38 laid the foundations and allowed the more fluent batsmen to score runs around him.

Josh Moore’s 29 gave the middle of the innings some impetus before Sam Taylor (25) and Elliot Moule (40 not out) came together late on and scored 68 runs off the last 9 overs to take Barwell to 173 for 5 off their 45 overs.

Ben Betteridge (1 for 18) and Sam Taylor (1 for 28) opened the bowling and restricted Ashby Hastings to 50 for 2 off the first 16 overs.

Elliot Moule came on as first change and claimed a wicket with his first ball. He was well supported by Dec Higgins (2 for 15) and Matt Welsh (1 for 12). Man of the match Elliot Moule continued to take wickets and finished with 4 for 37 off his 11 overs as Ashby Hastings were all out for 112 in the 36th over.

Barwell 2nds entertain Bardon Hill 2nds next Saturday.
