Match report Barwell 2nds got their season off to a great start with a final over win against Ratby Town 2nds.

Batting first Ratby looked to be on for a big score until Srini Parthasarathi came on to bowl and took 6 for 44, twice being on hat-trick ball! He was well supported by Curtis Baker (2 for 29), Matt Welsh (1 for 12) and Ash Washington (1 for 24).

Chasing Ratby's 181 all out, Barwell's openers (Peter Tillin & Dec Allen) got off to a solid start and had taken the score to 75 when Pete was first out for 25. Dec anchored the innings and took Barwell to the verge of victory before he was out in the penultimate over for a magnificent 86.

Scores from Alex Cullen (16), Curtis Baker (18) and George Rolfe, who hit the winning runs in his 14 not out, helped Barwell reach 185 for 7 with just 5 balls left.

A great team effort and well led by skipper James Dillon.
