Match report In awful conditions for cricket, Barwell 2nds faced Braunstone Cricketers in their second match of the season. On winning the toss, skipper James Dillon put the opposition into bat first and the young bowling attack did well to restrict Braunstone's top order to 31 for 3 off the first 20 overs.

As a series of catches went down, the Braunstone skipper did his best to build a decent score and finished on 65 not out in their total of 126 for 7 in their 40 overs. All four Barwell bowlers bowled well, with wickets being taken by Paul Pierce (3 for 28), George Rolfe (2 for 21) and Liam Tillin (1 for 38). Aiden Page was extremely unlucky not to claim a wicket as he went for only 34 runs in his 10 overs.

Barwell's reply got off to a disappointing start as last week's centurion was caught in the opening over. It was left to opener Paul Pierce to build the innings and he went on to score a maiden 50 before being bowled for 61 with Barwell 5 runs short of victory.

It was left to George Rolfe (10 not out) and Aiden Page to take Barwell to a hard fought victory with just one over left.
