Match report Barwell 2nds got back to winning ways with a great all round team performance away at Long Whatton 2nds.

Bowling first, a tight opening ten overs from Aiden Page and Liam Castle made it hard work for the Whatton batsmen. However, it required a direct hit run out from Darren Roach to bring the first wicket. Some good catching supported the bowlers as Barwell took regular wickets and restricted Whatton to 153 for 9 off their 40 overs. The wickets were shared between Liam castle (3 for 6 off 8 overs!!), Darren Roach (2 for 48), Ash Washington (1 for 28) and Nathan Clarke (1 for 33).

Barwell's run chase got off to a steady start. However, when Peter Tillin was stumped for 31, they went from 52 for 2 to 74 for 6 in the space of 6 overs. A 7th wicket stand of 47 between Darren Roach and Liam Castle was only broken when Liam was bowled for a well made 24. Liam Tillin then joined Darren for the 8th wicket with 33 still required for victory. However, the experienced head of Darren (35 not out) managed the situation perfectly and, with some good shots from Liam (15 not out), secured victory with 11 balls to spare.

The win keeps Barwell in 2nd place with a great team spirit continuing to build under the captaincy of James Dillon.
