Match report On a scorching Saturday afternoon, Barwell 2nds entertained Bardon Hill 2nds on a belter of a batting wicket.

Skipper James Dillon continued his good run of coin tosses and chose to bowl first. A good opening spell from Aiden Page (5 overs for 13) was unfortunate not to bring him a wicket. It took the introduction of Nathan Clarke to bring the first wicket as he bowled both openers.

Nathan, together with Darren Roach, began to slow the run rate down and with some good catching wickets started to fall at regular intervals. Bardon ended their 40 overs on 196 for 8 with the wickets shared between Darren Roach (3 for 50), Andy Clarke (2 for 5), Nathan Clarke (2 for 31) and Liam Castle (1 for 64).

Barwell's reply got off to a slow start and when Peter Tillin was bowled for 15 in the 16th over the score was 60 for 2. However, a third wicket stand of 99 between Paul Pierce and Darren Roach saw the run rate increase as Paul started to pierce the cover boundary at regular intervals and went past 50. When Darren was caught for 24 the score was 159 for 3 and Paul on the verge of his century.

Paul went to his maiden century with another 4 and received deserved applause from both teams. Barwell eventually secured the win with 6 overs to spare as Andy Clarke struck two huge sixes to finish on 19 not out. Paul eventually finished on a magnificent 112 not out including 18 4's and 1 six.

At the half way point of the season Barwell sit 2nd in the league with a chasing pack hot on their heels.
