Match report Barwell 2nds secured their 4th win in a row with a 82 run victory away at Barrow Town 3rds.

On losing the toss Barwell were asked to bat first on a pitch that was to produce some exaggerated bounce. Openers Pete Tillin and Garry Roach found it difficult at times, but still managed to put on 127 for the first wicket. Both fell in the 27th over as Pete was caught for a scratchy 48 and Garry was LBW for a 62 which included 11 4s.

Their departure brought Andy Clarke and skipper James Dillon to the crease. The pair managed to put on 89 for the 3rd wicket in just 9 overs before James was caught for 12. As this suggests, Andy was striking the ball to all areas of the ground and 11 of his 17 boundaries went all the way for 6. In the end Andy fell an agonising 3 runs short of his century as he was given out LBW for 97.

Barwell finished their innings on 275 for 5 off their 40 overs and were in a strong position as they went into the field. This was only increased as Aiden Page and Sam Taylor both claimed an early wicket. George Rolfe picked up 2 wickets on his return from injury and Barrow were 5 down at the drinks break. It is to their credit that they took the game to the last over of the match as Liam Tillin bowled well for his 3 wickets.

With Ash Washington and Andy Clarke claiming the last 3 wickets of the innings Barrow were eventually all out for 193. The wickets were shared between Liam Tillin (3 for 35), Ash Washington (2 for 25), George Rolfe (2 for 31), Sam Taylor (1 for 6), Andy Clarke (1 for 12) and Aiden Page (1 for 47).

Barwell will face a tougher test next Saturday as they entertain Anstey & Glenfield 2nds in a top of the table clash.
