Match report Barwell 2nds continued their push for promotion with another great all round team performance with a 6 wicket win over Loughborough Greenfields 2nds.

Greenfields won the toss and elected to bat first on an afternoon where rain came and went at regular intervals in the strong winds. Barwell made a good start with the ball, with Liam Castle claiming the first wicket in the 4th over. However, it was Aiden Page's opening 5 overs which set the tone for the day as he only went for 7 runs.

All the Barwell bowlers performed well on the day and were backed up by some good catching. Nathan Clarke bowled well through the second half of the innings as he claimed 3 for 39 for his 10 overs. He was well supported by Liam Castle (2 for 33), Darren Roach (1 for 11) and George Rolfe (1 for 35) as Greenfields were restricted to 157 for 8 off their 40 overs.

Peter Tillin and skipper James Dillon got the run chase off to a good start and had reached 33 off 8 overs before James was bowled for 11. Paul Pierce came in and struck a typically fluent 13 before being bowled with the score on 54.

Pete was then joined by Jon Fitt and the pair put on 70 for the third wicket before Pete was caught behind for a solid 43. Andy Clarke came and went quickly before Jon and Darren Roach took Barwell to their target in the 33rd over. Fitty batted extremely well, striking 5 4s and a 6 in his 48 not out, and was unfortunate to not get his 50 as Daz came in a struck a quick fire 21 not out.

The win keeps Barwell top of the table with a massive top of the table clash next Saturday away to Aryans.
