Match report Barwell 2nds travelled to Loughborough to face Aryans in a top of the table clash which didn't fail to disappoint.

Batting first, Barwell had a disastrous start as they lost both openers for ducks. Paul Pierce then stage a recovery as he gained support from Jon Fitt and James Dillon to take the score to 40 for 4 in the 17th over. Batting with Darren Roach, Paul had taken the score to 75 before he was unfortunately run out for a well made 38 on a wicket which was very unpredictable.

Andy Clarke then came in and hit a typically destructive 33 (1 4 and 4 6s) in just 5 overs. Daz Roach and Sam Taylor then put on 31 for the 7th wicket before Rusty was bowled for 12.

Daz batted well throughout his innings, managing the tail well to take the team score to 156 for 9 and his own score to 48 not out.

With a total to bowl at, Barwell claimed an early wicket as Liam Castle had one of the openers caught in the gully by Josh Moore. The second wicket partnership of 40 was finally broken as George Rolfe bowled the big hitting Chitan for 23. This was quickly followed by 2 wickets by Andy Clarke in his opening over, as Aryans were reduced to 61 for 4 in the 16th over.

A 49 run 5th wicket partnership was eventually broken as Rusty bowled the opener for 45. The game continued to ebb and flow as Aryans edged towards their target as Barwell claimed regular wickets. It came down to the final over with Aryans needing 5 for victory and Barwell the 1 wicket. Unfortunately for Barwell, Aryans managed to scramble the runs with one ball to spare.

A great game of cricket, just a shame about the result.
