Match report Barwell 2nds capped an excellent season with a comfortable 7 wicket win over Broomleys 2nds, a win which secured them the division title.

Broomleys batted first and, despite losing an early wicket to Aiden Page, made a great start as their overseas player got them off to a flying start. However, the introduction of Sam "Rusty" Taylor brought instant success as he took 2 quick wickets including the big hitting opener.

With Liam Tillin then producing his best bowling performance of the season Broomleys lost wickets at regular intervals before eventually being bowled out for 108. Liam was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 21 off his 6 overs, closely followed by Rusty (3 for 18), George Rolfe (1 for 28) and Aiden (1 for 22).

Barwell's run chase got off to a shaky start as they lost both openers for single figure scores. However, the dependable Paul Pierce, who produced another sublime performance, and the in form Alex Cullen put on 60 for the 3rd wicket, Alex eventually being caught for 28. It was left to Paul to take Barwell to victory and his match winning 4 also took him to his half century.

The win capped a marvellous season for the 2nds who, under the captaincy of James Dillon, have had their best season for years. Dill has managed the team well in a season where the size of the squad has made selection, and keeping everyone involved, a real challenge. However, the 2nds have pulled together, both on and off the field, with an amazing team spirit.
