Match report It was with great pleasure that Barwell CC accepted an invitation from Broomleys CC to participate in the Roger Harris Trophy Day.

Barwell CC played their semi final against Broomleys' XI and despite losing early wickets managed to post a total of 178 for 6 off their 20 overs. This was largely down to Liam O'Rourke who scored 90 off 41 balls, striking 7 sixes in his 13 boundaries. He received good support from Alex Cullen (29 not out) and Sam Taylor who came in towards the end of the innings and struck a quick fire 17.

Broomleys' reply looked in no trouble until Liam O'Rourke ran out their overseas opener with a direct hit. After then Barwell took regular wickets to bowl the opposition out for 110.

In the final Barwell faced the Roger Harris Invitational XI, a side packed with players from the upper divisions. However, another good all-round team performance saw Barwell restrict their opponents to 125 for 7 off the 20 overs. Liam O'Rourke, with 3 for 12 from his 4 overs, led the attack well and was well supported by all the bowlers and another great team fielding performance. A pivotal moment of the innings came when skipper James Dillon claimed a spectacular one handed catch (though we're not to mention the 2 which went straight in and out).

Barwell's reply got off to a slow start as the Barwell openers faced some quality bowling. However, Liam O'Rourke's class again shone through as he and Peter Tillin put on 66 for the 2nd wicket before Pete was bowled for 15. Liam then again received great support from Alex Cullen who hit 13 in the fading light. It all came down to the final over with Barwell needing 5 to win in near darkness. However, with Liam O'Rourke still at the crease Barwell had the advantage and he struck a 4 off the 4th ball of the over to bring Barwell the unlikeliest win of their season.

Liam finished with 75 not out, in a day where he scored 165 runs, took 4 wickets, claimed 3 catches in the deep and ran out 2 batsmen with direct hits. However, it was very much a team performance and a day where all the lads contributed.
