Barwell Cricket Club Under 17s v Enderby on Wed 13 May 2009 at 6 PM
Barwell Cricket Club Won By 5 Wickets
Match report
Information From Enderby Cricket Club :
Enderby were knocked out of this years Naational cup in a thrilling run fest at barwell last night.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat on a fast outfield and one very short boundary it was always going to be who could score the most boundaries that would carry the day.
Sam Blanksby was out LBW to miss out on what followed as Harrison and Monksfield set about the Barwell bowling . With both players running well and frequently crosssing the boundary 10an over was achieved adding 86 before Harrison(44) wasout caught forcing of the back foot.
Bring on the Moose who along with Monksfield continued in the same vein adding 93 in 8 overs with Monksfield finishing with 9 4`s and 3 6`6 for a remarkable 86* and Moose runout of the last ball vallently trying for a third to finish on 26 the innings finishing 179-2 a record for Enderby.
Barwell with League Division 1 experience in the side set to the task and kept to the run rate throughout despite best efforts to protect the short boundary.
Josh Shevas struck early poaching the dangerous Moran but all that did was bring Wilson to the wicket who with Moore took the score to 61 before Astley got one to nibble back and had him bowled. Astley the took the brunt of some brutal hitting as Wilson hit 3 6`s and 2 4`s in one over before Jag Sandher bowled him.Inbetween this Monksfield had knocked Wrights stump out the ground leaving Barwell 154-4 .4 runs later Harrison bowled Jones and a win could happen as Barwell still needed 22 off 4 overs with little batting to come.
However the experienced Clarke and Johnson picked off the singles and so the field had to be dragged in to compensate in a bid to force the players to hit over the top which the successfully did reaching the target with a clear two overs to go.
You will pay a lot of money this year to see a better 20/20 game played by these young men and it will stay in the memory of those fortunate to play and watch for many years.
