Match report Barwell 2nds secured promotion with a solid team performance against Braunstone Cricketers.

Bowling first, Barwell made initial inroads before a 3rd wicket partnership of 61 put Barwell on the back foot. However, a good catch in the deep by Paul Pierce off Nathan Clarke broke the partnership. From that point Barwell took regular wickets to bowl Braunstone out for 166 off 37 overs.

With the help of some good catching Nathan took 5 for 42 off his 10 overs, with Darren Roach (2 for 30) and George Rolfe (1 for 18) being the other wicket takers.

Barwell's reply got off to a good start as Jon Fitt and James Dillon put on 37 for the first wicket before Jon was bowled for 20. The skipper then put on a series of partnerships, first with Alex Cullen, who struck a quick fire 18, and then Andy Clarke, before being joined by Darren Roach. The pair then put on 74 for the 5th wicket before James was out for a typically gritty, but match winning, 74.

It was left to Daz Roach to score the winning runs as he finished on 32 not out.

Barwell go into their last game of the season knowing that a win at home next weekend against Broomleys 2nds will secure them the division title.
