Barwell put themselves firmly back in the promotion race with a seven wicket win over Langtons on Saturday.
Skipper Trent Rollins lost the toss and the visitors chose to bat and came out all guns blazing looking to get after the opening pair of Lee Skene and Chris Moore.
After some good early hitting from the Langtons bowling changes were made and this proved effective as the visitor’s wickets soon began to tumble; and after a promising start Langtons were dismissed for just 127. Dec Allen was the pick of the Barwell attack with figures of 5-50 and he was well supported by Liam O’Rourke (3-3).
Barwell rarely looked troubled chasing their target and the successful opening partnership of Rollins and Adam Stapleford-Jones once again paid off as Rollins top scored with 67 and Stapleford-Jones contributed 26 as Barwell reached their total with the loss of three wickets.
Rollins was pleased with his side’s performance after a poor display last week. He said: “It was really pleasing to bounce back from the week before and it was a solid performance today. We still have a great shout at promotion with five games to go.”
With results going Barwell’s way at the weekend they are only 12 points off a promotion place and travel to Shepshed this weekend.
