26th March 2015

To All Players

As the proud chairman of Barwell Cricket Club I write to you ahead of what I hope will be an exciting season for the club.  The 1st XI, under the captaincy of Guy, faces a new challenge in Div 1; with Pete continuing to lead the 2nd XI in Div 6 West.

With Sachin Aggarwal on his way over as our new overseas player we have strengthened the side by bringing in a top order batsman who can also bowl some leg spin.  We also hope to recruit a handful of players who will add depth to our young, but talented, batting and bowling line ups.

I can’t wait for the season to start and hopefully we will have a memorable and, most importantly, enjoyable summer!  I am full of high hopes for the lads this year and hope that we can all continue to pull in the right direction.

With the new season we face the usual challenges; especially on the financial front as the running costs of the club continue to rise.  In this respect the committee have now finalised the signing on and match fees for the 2015 season.

Signing on fees will continue to be £30, but only if paid before the end of April.  After April they increase to £40 and must be paid by the end of May.  If signing on fees have not been paid by the end of May subsequent team selections will be affected.

Saturday match fees remain largely unchanged, apart for those in Further and Higher Education.

Adults - £10

Further / Higher Education Students - £7.50

Under 17s (as at 31.08.14) - £5

We have arranged a signing on night for 7pm Friday 10th April.  We hope that you will join us for a few beers and take the opportunity to pay your signing on fee ahead of the start of the season.

Once again, here’s hoping for a good summer’s cricket and I look forward to seeing you on the 10th April.

Kind Regards

Geoff
