It was a mixed weekend for Barwell as the first team lost
out to Sileby Town and the second team defeated Sharnford.
On a wet Sileby track Barwell were put into bat first and
got off to a good start finding themselves 60-1 with Adam Stapleford-Jones top
scoring with 29. However, Sileby were soon amongst the wickets and Barwell
collapsed to 157 all out.
In reply Barwell couldn’t take wickets regularly and Sileby
chased their total comfortably with the loss of two wickets.
Barwell now face Narborough at Kirkby Road on Saturday who
sit one place above them in fifth.
Barwell second team defeated Sharnford first team at Kirkby
Road on Saturday.
With a lot of rain in the area Barwell put Sharnford into
bat and they took wickets at regular intervals to dismiss them for 88. Steve
Johnson was the pick of the bowlers claiming figures of 4-15 from his eight
overs.
Barwell struggled with what should have been a routine run
chase, but just managed to chase their total for the loss of nine wickets, Ben
Betteridge top scored with a patient 32.
The win puts Barwell sixth and they travel to Grace Dieu on
Saturday.
