Barwell first team put last week’s disappointing performance
behind them with a convincing win over Narborough.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first on a
good, hard surface at Kirkby Road. Barwell bowled tightly and did well to
restrict Narborough to 210-9. Neil Cowdrey was the pick of the bowlers for
Barwell with figures of 4-40 in his first game back.
In reply Barwell’s opening partnership of Adam
Stapleford-Jones and overseas recruit Trent Rollins ensured that the run chase
would be a comfortable one. Rollins blasted his way to 99 before being given
out LBW, and Stapleford-Jones played a good supporting role with 58. With the
loss of the first wicket coming with 170 runs already on the board, Jack Smith
saw Barwell home with 20 not out.
Despite winning Barwell remain sixth due to Lutterworth
being given their game and they now travel to Loughborough Carillon on Saturday
who are fourth in the table.
